Strikes USA
The tentative Master Contract agreement between the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance, Ltd. (USMX) expires Jan. 15, 2025. Until a final agreement is reached, a strike by dockworkers in the U.S. East, West, Gulf Coast ports (including Puerto Rico & the Bahamas) is imminent.
Should no agreement be reached and the dockworkers decide to lay off work, delays are imminent resulting in possible additional costs. The potential additional costs will vary from one shipping company to another and thus cannot be predicted in advance. It also depends on the duration of the strike.
If you have shipments via Merzario on their way to the above-mentioned destinations, we would like to draw your attention to the possibility of delays and/or extra costs.
Of course we are closely monitoring the situation and will keep you informed about the progress of further negotiations.
