Port of Hamburg recovers

The port of Hamburg regained in the first half of the year in relation of Antwerp and Rotterdam. From January till June the port of Hamburg handled 4,4 million TEU.

In comparison to the prior year this equals an increase of 0,9 per cent whereas the Netherlands as same as Belgium and Bremen/Bremerhaven announced recessions.

Despite the growth of container handling in Hamburg Antwerp and Rotterdam still placed notably right in front of Hamburg.

The port of Hamburg tried to reach a cargo handling in 2022 of 130 million tons and a container handling of 8,7 Mio TEU.

But in general, the total handling decrease in the first 6 month of 2022 in Hamburg about 61,8 Mio. tons resulting in 2,7 per cent reduction to the last year. Next to many different reasons also the sanctions against Russia are decisive involved.

Past and current essential oversea trade partner are China (1,3 Mio TEU), USA (291,000 TEU) and Singapore (218,000 TEU). Russia is drastic slipped off from position 5th to 15th.

The container handling is declined about 50,9 per cent (79,000 TEU).
