All capacity Groningen LNG Terminal sold by Gasunie
Eemshaven’s not-yet-existing LNG terminal has sold its expected gas capacity of 8 billion cubic meters per year.
The Czech company ČEZ and Shell Western LNG had previously signed a contract for 7 billion cubic meters per year and the remaining 1 million cubic meters has now been sold to the French company Engie.
Everything is currently being prepared in Eemshaven so that the expected gas terminals can be immediately installed and commissioned. The two floating terminals are expected in Eemshaven in September and if all goes well they will be able to deliver the first gas by mid-September.
The FSRU’s or „floating storage and regasification units“ are two floating factories where the liquid gas arrives. Here it is brought up to temperature so that it becomes a gaseous form. The gas is then fed into the European gas grid.
